Editing
Very often when we write something, we concentrate too much on the technical content and we forget to ensure its readability. We tend to write what comes to mind, realizing only later that it is not well structured, hence difficult to read and understand. Being too close to the document’s content, the writers would often fail to understand why their message could not get through clearly to others. To make matters worse, because you have read that draft publication over and over again, you would often go on auto-pilot mode and skim through the documents without noticing those few misspellings. This is when you could use an unbiased second opinion to help shape your writing so it is more understandable, readable, well-structured and well-written.
With experience as a report editor and writer at an international humanitarian organization, I will correct grammar, delete redundant or repetitive sentences, edit wordiness, and correct spelling errors. To improve readability, I will also rearrange sentences and paragraphs, depending on your needs. Of course, all of the changes will be done in consultation with you, to ensure that your original writing style and tone remains intact. I also offer additional perks, in which I will not only edit your content but also challenge it with questions that may arise from your intended target audience.
Writing
Compiling various information written by different people into one comprehensive document is a tedious process, as you need to ensure that the document is not only well-structured and well-written but also uses the same style throughout the whole document. If your company/organization has the occasional need to write a report or other publication materials with no dedicated staff to do it, I can help you.
In the last seven years, I have gathered extensive experience in writing various reports, information, education and communication materials. Through close consultation with you, I will help you write your reports or publications according to your needs and target audiences.
Translation
I believe that translation is more than just looking up words of the same meaning. It has to be in the right context, with the same or similar connotation originally intended, it has to make up a sentence that makes sense, and the sentences should make up a paragraph which presents the same idea as intended by the paragraph in the original language.
In order to achieve this result, I will take the time to do proper research of the subject, refer to previous bilingual documents for proper use of terms and consult with my clients. I offer a word-based rate to provide you with a ready to use document which retains all formatting, and a page-based rate if the document’s format is not a major concern for you.
Note: My services are limited to translation from English to Indonesian and vice versa.
